Q: Filipino musicians in bars

It seems like, at least in Nanjing and Changshu, all of the singers/musicians in the bars are Filipinos. What's up with that?

Whats wrong with that?

Just people trying to make a living. Same as everyone else.

Different skills sold in different markets. The market being dictated by the accident of location of birth.

When I used to go to bars more (almost never do now) I met a lot of Filipino musicians.. nice people, good music.

I always wondered what sort of visa they were on though.

its an entertainment visa and they work cheaper than chinese and dont scam for more money, for the bar owner, its a reliable labor talent at a cheap price that want complain and cause problems, supply and demand at its best

I have a few on my facebook and they have a tough old life. Seeing their kids once a year at best, sleeping 3 to a room and all that.

Filipino musos are very talented.  If there were any playing here where I live then I'd go see them.

If I was still in Qindgao I'd go to Lennons tonight.
