Q: Fired by text message is this official

Okay weird...I received an email saying I was fired and they said they would explain the exit procedure along with providing me a letter. A few people say they should have provided a termination letter or does it really matter. Also I am still staying in the school apartment they have not told me when I need to leave. Two days later they tell me they found me a job and they hope I like it. I have already secured some other options I have been treading lightly on asking for a release letter. Can anyone give real advice here on what I can do. They are basically not answering my calls or emails directly.

Go there in person. If they fired you then they will give you a release letter, shouldn't be a problem.

Legally you are entitled to a release letter within ten working days of your termination date.  Be sure the letter is signed, dated, and chopped and YOU get the original. If they say they will send it to your next employer or SAFEA, tell them to make copies, but you must get the original.
