I would think the name is "Inadequate/Vanity" building.

Why do I always think when i hear that China is going to build the 'world's biggest (insert your own word here)' that I think they are desperate to compensate for something?

The first big stone building in the world is the stepped pyramid in Saqquara, Egypt.

New Century Global Center, Chengdu, Sichuan.

From the out side it is rather spectacular, especially when you see it from the air either on approach or having just taken off from the airport.  The inside however is not that exciting.  There is a hotel (I think there will be 2 eventually), an overpriced water park, a generic shopping mall and lots and lots of offices.

I don't know about the first, but the current biggest building in China is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai City, United Arab Emirates county, Shanzhai Province.

How about this one?   IMHO it doesn't look so good in real life.  yeah, I know it's not finished, but I still don't think it looks as good as KK Building or IFC Buildings.

Ping An International Finance Center — Shenzhen, Gaungdong, China. Height (when completed): 2,125.98 feet / 647.99 meters

Eorthisio:

The change of cladding ruined the Ping An Center, they opted for a boring blue-greyish color instead of the golden one as shown in the artworks.

Also it seems that they won't build the spire finally, so that means the building won't even be a megatall, at 588m, megatalls start at 600m.

Daniel Lau still had fun time climbing on it though : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXSZNxeHGYA

oh!  that explains why it looks so vastly different in real life... I just thought I was looking at some sort of protective construction cladding or something... it just looks unfinished... I don't know how to say what I'm trying to say... lol... it just looked to me like they weren't building it properly.  not that I know anything about building skyscrapers.  but the cranes at the top are Awesome!!!   My dream job is to be one of those crane operators!   too bad I'm also acrophobic.

darn... sure wish I had a VPN

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
