Q: To the foreigners who are choosing to stay in China - why?

Other than the poor American dude in Zhejiang who can't get his passport back from the authorities, why are there still a good number of Westerner's in China? Do you just not comprehend how much at risk you are for aquiring C-19? If you're a teacher, is there truly a valid reason for you to be there if you have the option of teaching your classes online? Aren't you the least bit embarassed to be there? Isn't there the slightest inkling of self-preservation lurking in your minds? It's simply unfathomable to me how utterly dense some people are, and how little regard they hold for their families in their home countries who are undoubtedly worried about them.

Eh, something's got to kill me eventually anyway.
I live here, so why would I be embarrassed to stay here?  I would be more embarrassed if I fled the country over something as mundane as viral pneumonia.

It's not the end of the world, so I'm not worried.

In the city I am living, the infection rate is low. I go out every week to buy supplies do take the necessary precautions. I don't feel unsafe. I don't go to crowded places or take taxis. I have high regard for my personal safety. If I were based in Wuhan or another city with high rates of infections and fatalities then I wouldn't stay there. The truly valid reason I have for being here is that I live here.

I think some foreigners stay since they can't take their Chinese wife or kids to their homeland. Some foreigners think that they can start to work after couple of months later.

Also, people live alone with pets too.  It's not that easy to give animals away on short notice. I wouldn't leave my awesome little cat buddy. Everyone's circumstances are different.

Corona is everywhere ... 2 died last night in Italy. 10 or more Italian cities on lock-down, i.e. copy China-women&men-don't spread-Ncov measures.

Austria stopped all traffic with Italy today, he he. No more pizza .. und spaghetti for you!

I hope, you are aware that stock market traders are very funny/notty bunch. You shouldn't skip comments at Zero's weblinks on the bottom of the text, I am keep c&p.

Today, I have one new weblink on Ncov with pics. of empty supermarkets in N. Italy:

https://www.zerohedge.com/health/store-shelves-empty-virus-spread-sparks...

... and few comments:

I can't c&p. I'll rewrite it. Here we go:

DeathMerchant: Because trade war, Trump hate the Chinese wanting to see him out of office .. at any cost...

RetainingH2O: Jumbo, Large and Medium-Husky condoms are completely sold out. The only condom sizes still available in Italy are the Japanese "bumble bee". However, the stores are offering 2 for 1, with instructions on how to tape them together.

twoheadsonenut: lmafao!

justthetip: you can tape them together? Magnifico!!!!

Geocen Trist: I can never find any condoms big enough

ATILLA THE WIMP:  Stop putting them over your head.

Working Class Man: I don't see any pizza on the shelves, the Italians know the important stuff.

icnif77:

I, as a very smart man (I might say), didn't choose to stay in China.

Laowai in China have Ncov casus fortuitus and I am close to N. Italy (some 100km away at this moment) and we have ... this:

  • *Italy Hotel in Lockdown After First Coronavirus Case in Liguria

  • *First case in Switzerland

yeah,,, covid sure likes to spread it seems...  I thought pretty funny (ironic) when the Iran Health Minister got it!  I guess he visted some of those infected ones.  Wow, what a rip-off.  And now they are saying first Frenchy croaked,,,  some 60 year guy in Paris....  I wonder if he was already ill?   Remember in the beginning they said fatalities would be the weak,,,,  very young, or folks w/ underlying health issues.   Didn't seem like that 35 year old doc in Wuhan was weak...  but I don't know for certain....

I know this is an old posting, but it is worth replying to. I was in Thailand on vacation. When there was news that China was going into quarantine, I rushed back to China. I am very happy I did. I can now begin working when the school opens, and teaching online was easier here than outside of the country. I never had any fear of the virus. Our city only had two reported cases of infection and no deaths. Also, I have no fear of death. China has become my second home, and I wanted to be "home".

Answer of the DayMORE >>
A: In my personal experience, teaching certificates have varied in releva
A:In my personal experience, teaching certificates have varied in relevance depending on the context and location. Here's a breakdown of each aspect:a) Getting the teaching job: Teaching certificates can certainly enhance your chances of securing a teaching position, especially in formal educational settings such as schools and language institutions. Many employers prefer candidates who have undergone specific training in pedagogy and instructional techniques, which these certificates often provide. However, other factors such as experience, references, and the demand for teachers in a particular area also play significant roles in the hiring process.b) Getting a higher salary than your uncertified competitors: In some cases, holding a teaching certificate can indeed lead to a higher salary compared to uncertified competitors. Many educational institutions have structured salary scales that take into account factors such as level of education, years of experience, and additional certifications. Holding a teaching certificate may place you in a higher salary bracket or make you eligible for certain salary incentives or bonuses. However, this can vary widely depending on the specific policies of the institution or organization.c) Getting promotions: Teaching certificates can be beneficial for career advancement and securing promotions within the field of education. They demonstrate a commitment to professional development and mastery of teaching skills, which are qualities that many employers value when considering candidates for leadership positions or administrative roles. Additionally, some promotions may require specific certifications or qualifications, making holding a teaching certificate essential for advancement in certain cases.Regarding which certificate yields better results, it largely depends on the specific requirements of the job market and the educational context in which you intend to work. For example:A Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is often highly regarded in formal school settings and can be advantageous for those seeking positions in primary or secondary education.Montessori certification is valuable for individuals interested in working in Montessori schools or implementing Montessori principles in their teaching approach.A Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate is particularly relevant for those seeking to teach English to non-native speakers in international contexts or language schools.Ultimately, the best certificate for you will depend on your career goals, the specific requirements of the positions you're interested in, and the preferences of potential employers in your target job market. It's essential to research the requirements and preferences of employers in your desired field and tailor your qualifications accordingly. -- ruqaiya761
