Q: Friday after work riding home.

Riding home after work on my mt bike,.On the left side there are recycle buildings and some E.bike shops, the road is always busy and you really have to be careful.

Iam about to ride past this old woman she is  picking up cardboard and Im not riding very fast.As Im just about to pass her this 2 year child runs out in front of me I slam on my breaks and my I knock her down.

there was nothing i could do about it. The old woman starts yelling at me she garbs my bike and she would not let me go,the child is crying but she is not hurt. the woman starts saying give me money give me money this went on for about 20 mins.In that time about 50 people stood around watching.

my Chinese sucks so I was just saying ting bu dong, this man on a motor bike could see the child was ok and was telling the woman to let me go.after 20 min she let me go.

I said sorry to them but also feel that this could have been a scam as well not sure though because all this woman wanted was money.I said I have no money.she was yelling very loud as well.

I ride the same way everyday to go to work and home,In the 3 years I have been riding I have never hit anyone.

what happened on Friday could have happened to anyone riding past this woman,it could have been a car or an E.bike.

I told my wife about she said stuff like happens all the time. all they want is money.Im just glad the little girl was ok.but at that age children have no road sense.

I was freaking out I thought all these people that were watching were going to attack me.just thankful to the man on the motorbike as well to talk the woman down.

love to hear your thoughts on this

feel free to ask questions.

Wow, glad you're ok really. It can be a bit frightening when the mob surrounds you. Not sure if it was an intentional scam, but it certainly sounds like she saw an opportunity to get money out of you once it happened.

Lucky for you that had you were riding bicycle and that the locals (other than the old woman) were sensible.

Someone I know was in the exact same situation on a motorcycle in a village and they were taken for 10,000 yuan. I honestly think they let their kids run amok and don't teach them any road sense so that when they are knocked down it's lotto winner time.

I'm surprised that this guy on the motorbike helped you out! It's really good to hear Smile

If your Chinese was good enough, you could have berated the old woman, and demanded money from her for the emotional stress caused by hitting a child that should have been kept under stricter supervision.

This might seem a silly question - but how do you know the child and the old woman were connected? I mean, if her only thought was about money - and not about the actual child - then it's not that much of a leap to be asking this! AND demanding some proof from the woman.

Get a camera for your bike! With audio.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
