I am sitting at home in Australia while my beautiful Chinese(now Aussie) partner is making dumplings. Can't wait to dip them in some chili sauce and vinegar and quash them down with a cold beer later this evening while I watch Bernard Tomic try and get one over Roger Federer. Best of both worlds. mmmmmmmm.......

I was just thinking back to Yangzhou, when I had an apartment in a high rise overlooking the city. Opening the window at midnight, and watching literally tens of thousands of fireworks was literally one of most amazing experiences of my life. Too bad I'm on the ground floor now. :(((

When I lived on the 12th floor in Dalian, I found that the 12th floor is the exact height that rockets tend to explode at. So when my neighbors all used the community area to light off their rockets, my windows (and myself if the windows were open) were pelted with flaming debris. Granted, the rockets looked really cool at eye level, but it was a tad too much for my tastes.

Last year I took a video of the fireworks and firecrackers from 11:30 pm until about 12:25 am, and everytime I showed it back home people could not believe what they were seeing. I do plan to take another one this year.
Be sure to have a lot to drink tonight, because you WILL NOT be able to sleep otherwise! It's like machine guns goin off until 6am!
