Q: Game over, man. Game over! Goodbye Bill Paxton...

The guy perhaps known for this line unfortunately died yesterday(?) at the age of 61...

Another one gone :(

(if you don't know the line... It's from the movie "Aliens". Of course, he's also famous for a number of other roles in Hollywood...)

We will all go.

Why feel sad for one?

The famous don't have a monopoly on death.

Shining_brow:

No, they do not.

Why feel sad?

Because someone with talent has left us... meaning, we won't be able to see him do his thing any time in the future (not that we were really likely to).

Also, the majority of people on this planet will basically waste their life, and do very little for humanity as a whole (either long or short term... or in a very small environment). Some people, however, make a difference... they put their skills and talents to a use that benefits a much larger portion of the people. (and, yes, there are MANY (most??) that will never be recognised for their contributions... and far too many who will be given a spotlight that is a complete waste of time and effort).

While Bill's exploits may not have been amazingly awesome, I think it's sad that those skills, personality, etc are gone from the world...

I've said before - I don't give value to life itself... only to what is done with it.

Ha ha Ironman. I might be gone from ECC very soon.

Not because of death or ill health.

I trashed my password. I am down to one laptop that has it saved.

Scots: It's not simply about being famous, through his work, he brought joy to millions. That  is different  from someone like me and you , who are loved deeply , but only touch a few.

Read it yesterday, I just saw Aliens (for the 100th time) last week.

I liked him and his acting.

Two roles/movies that I liked him in were:

Shanghai Calling (the laowai that made it big with a chicken fast food chain)

Night Crawler (the "strainer" that seeks out gorey news at night on the streets of L.A.)

How did he go?

Shining_brow:

I only read that it was due to a "complication" during heart surgery..
