Q: The Gaokao 2012

Chinese kids doing what they gotta do. Nothing else.
Foreign teacher holiday time ! We are the only people who like Gaokao !
I will formulate a question in emitting my opinion.
In the land of socialism, where all are supposed to be equals, no strata or social classes, everyone with the same rights, are there different levels even for students ?. After all, the "gaokao" is used to create stratas of students according to grades on one exam. Those with higher grades go to the best colleges, those with medium grades go to secondary colleges, and those with low grades can go back to farm or to construction projects.
My step daughter has her middle school gaokao next Sunday June 24, Her grade will determine to which high school she can attend. Uhmmmmmm.............
