Hi,
My boyfriend and I were thinking about getting married in China. My boyfriend is African, Nigerian to be exact, and I am American. I was just wondering what is the procedure for two foreigners getting married in China? Is it really hard? How long would it take? Things along that nature would be really helpful. Thanks.

Lol! Thanks for the information. I heard that, too, about foreigners not being able to get married in mainland China, but if there is even a chance it is a very difficult and long process. Well, good luck on your marriage.
Marriage between two foreigners can be done in China. Each will need the certificate of eligibility from the respective countries, then translated to Mandarin by a certified translator, and with the passports, the marriage ID photos, fill the application and pay the fee and you will get the red booklet.
While it is true that you can get married in Hong Kong with just your passport, it does take two trips there, or a couple of weeks stay. You need to go first and request an appointment (or a date for the marriage to happen), then return on the selected day for the event. It normally takes two or three weeks wait between requesting a date and the date for the event.
