Q: Getting a new F visa or extend my current visa?

Hi good people on this amazing website.

This is my first very own question asked to you guys:

I'm now in Guangzhou, my visa (F visa) will expire on 26/02. And I got approved to study in university here, the registration at the university office is between 25/02-01/03.

So I got 1 day before my visa expire? Is that enough? Or should I go to HK and get a new F visa (then it would be my first run to HK), or go to a PSB and extend my visa further 1 month?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Why don't you go and ask at University? They will handle your new Visa, and I am sure they know, if it is enough time on your present Visa to make an extension (new Visa) in China.

Forgive me but I thought F visa was for business not to study

maybe you should double check which one you need before going near PSB

good luck and please let us know what happens

best regards

F-visa also applied for any period of study less than or equal to 180 days. I know this because before I earned my PhD back in the states, I sometimes did research and minor study in mainland China. Just go to the school and ask for an extension. You can go to the HK offices with an invitation letter for a new F or X visa and get it very easily if from a reputable university.

A:My friends who are managing schools still can't recruit from outside of China because of the borders being closed, as far as I know that doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon. If you have a current existing residence permit etc you can re-enter the country, going through the usual quarantine process obviously but no new visas are being issued. I don't know about business visas but I suspect it wouldn't be much different. For up to date info you could probably contact the Chinese embassy in your country. -- Stiggs
