Q: Getting out of China problems.
OK some background, I'm British, my wife is Cbinese. A good few years ago we decided to buy an apartment in China, no problem my wife came to China did the search etc and we bought the property on a medium mortgage with a large deposit, in her name as she was Chinese. Then she was granted (and still holds) a British Passport.
A few years later we came to live and work in China with British passports and Visas and our passports were stamped on entry into China. However when we came to renew my wifes visa it was rejected as she held a Chinese ID card. As she needed this ID to maintain the mortgage we decided she would 'become' Chinese and that is what we've done for the last few years.
Trouble is when we come to leave China, as she won't be able to use her British Passport to leave as it won't have a current legal Visa and if we use her Chinese passport she will need a UK visa and as we have been living in China for a while her old indefinite leave to remain (which she held before getting a British Passport) is no longer valid.
So my questions:
1. Can she get a UK tourist visa on her Chinese passport? (We would have to 'lose' her old passport as no entry stamp)
2. Can we leave via Hong Kong on her British passport without a legal Chinese visa?
Any suggestions or work arounds would be most helpful,
Thanks for the answers: However, I believe to leave China you need to have a legal visa in the passport you use both to be in China and to enter Britain, they use it as a 'sort of' exit visa. So if we use her Chinese passport from the mainland she would need a UK visa in it (and probably an entry stamp from her original entry although that can be got around). So I think Hong Kong sounds the best option.

I just can wish you good luck and let your wife do as many research as she can. we need do the same now, as my previous question was. Called some places, and one of the reply was like "depend on my mood if you can get help from us" :(

she lost her passport and apply for a new one before you leave.
I don't know for sure, but I'd suggest that you get to HK on her Chinese passport, and then leave HK on her British Passport... IIRC, Brits can stay in HK in definitely.. no??
Either way, outside of China, use of 2 passports is quite legal (cos they're not so anal about such things).
just leave on the chinese passport and enter the uk on the pomy one I do the same thing if I go to the Uk and I use my Australian one to come home The Uk passport to me is only so I do not need a Visa tha Australian one os so I get left alone every where else
China , A person has only one nationality, If she has joined the British nationality, the nationality of China will lose the automatic.
Without China ID, she will be foreigner, we treat foerign not like us, they have many things should not do, but we can.
