I think you can still do it. The main thing that you will need to prove is that you can financially support her during her visit. Carefully make a list of everything you need. If any document is in Chinese it will have to be translated to English or Welsh.

Can she establish that she / family owns property? Can she establish that she has more than enough money to support herself for a month? )Lord is 100% wrong, your money and relationship will only hurt her chances of getting a tourist visa) Her best choice would be to go with tour group. I always tell people to be safe , show that you can afford $150 a day. .

As well as proving that you can support her financially you'll need to show good reason that she'll return to China. As she'll be in the middle of her university course I'd suggest getting a letter from her university stating that she has a course to go back to.

You'll need to provide pay slips & bank statements to prove you can support her, an invite letter & I'd suggest some proof of your relationship (how you met, how long you've known here, etc)

Sorry to be negative but there is a possibility she'll get rejected if she can't show very good reason/links to China for going home after. UKBA are paranoid about tourists not going home after.

I had a similar situation with my then gf (now wife) to bring her in France for a couple of weeks. Europeans nations seems paranoid about illegal migrants and loopholes exploits.

* We had to prove that she had good reasons to go back in China. We gave all the credentials we could about her job : company license, letter from the boss. That was annoying for her, because it triggered some mad gossiping.

* We had to prove we could cover all expenses. I filled her bank account with 50K RMB, and then we gave a bank account record covering the last 3 months. My parents filled an administrative form at the tow hall to attest that they can provide proper hosting at their own expense.

It did the trick... Yet 2 police officer were waiting specifically for her *just at the exit of the plane*, to check she got her ticket back. Nice, guys, I really appreciate the first impression you gave to my gf about home...

ScotsAlan:

Yeah. My GF (wife now), had been to the UK a few times on business visas. But when she turn up alone on a tourist visa she was taken to an interview room and giving a grilling.  They had her in tears.

Same thing happened to a friend (German) and his then gf (now wife), a few years ago. She came for the interview to get a tourist visa in Shanghai. The guy was really harsh on her, teasing her about marrying a foreigner to get the fancy life and all that kind of crap, she ended-up in tears. That's an awful way to deal with people. Now, the French & German consulates of Shanghai delegates tourist visa processing to a private contractor, with a very streamline process and *NO* shitty interviews with sociopath assholes.

RiriRiri:

Er... you are wrong on that one Monkey. First the EU consulates always come with the visa decisions internally, and interviews are conducted and recorded there, by appointed employees only. The contractor is only responsible for collecting the paperwork, making sure all documents are there and organizing the whole. At no point do they take any decision and they don't even authenticate the documents. All work is being done at the consulate. What a scandal it would be otherwise.

Secondly, interviews aren't done on mood swings, the questions aren't up to the interviewer and the decision process from the answers and attitude is well defined in a grid and everything is on record, though obviously not freely available.

I'm not saying abuses aren't impossible, I'm saying the process is already streamlined and tries to stick as much as possible to the legal ways as defined by laws, but visa offices also can't be oblivious to some Chinese characteristics that you and everyone here know off, which can't allow for any loophole.

So back to your experience: single women are considered THE super high risk profile among all, not because of hate and bigotry, but because of reality: so, for example, since Brussels laws make it so that if they let any pregnant woman through, and somehow she manages to hide and give birth on EU soil, then not only the child will be able to claim citizenship but also the parents and the whole family. This, of course, regardless of the legal residency situation of everyone.

Paranoid and exaggerated, you think? Well, there are already many cases on record, notably of a girl who made sure she learned the language well enough so she could get a student visa. Then vanished. Then the consulate got a phone call: so called student just gave birth, she was pregnant in China and no one saw it.

Obviously they don't want this happening on a large scale, and I'm sure you and I neither.

The Unites States actually go one step further and make it clear right from the beginning that every single applicant is considered a candidate to immigration by default, and will have to fight and prove otherwise and in case of any objection they can try the next country which is at least clear and honest.

I've been the sociopath asshole doing the shitty interviews in the past.

Riri - wouldn't the obvious solution then to change the law so that being born on EU soil does NOT automatically entitle mother and child to citizenship? Wham! There goes that 'loophole' and all those passport-diggers!!

While Australia certainly has it's fair share of illegal immigrants, we don't have that problem in any way, shape or size! Because it doesn't happen, the laws are different.

Don't tell me, everyone supports the revocation of those stupid laws (and this was just one example).

Problem is that once the problem is on your hands, you'll always find manipulative assholes around putting pressure on local politics in the name of human rights (and trust me, in Europe this concept is the fucking mind trigger that stops anyone from thinking). The law doesn't matter anymore at that point.

Illegals never get kicked out.

Now tell me something, I might be wrong but I don't think Australian consulates will warmly welcome single Chinese girls' dreams of lone traveler tourist visa no questions asked, will they?

I done this a few years back for my then girlfriend (now wife). She was refused a tourist visa on the first attempt so we had to do it twice.

As others have said:

She needs to show the visa office in China:

Your bank statements.

Your rental/ house deeds.

Your bank statements and payslips

A chopped letter from her school/ employer saying she has a reason to go back.

Photos of the two of you together, covering the length of your relationship.

She needs money in her bank account.

You need to do a very good invite letter. This is the key. There are certain statements you need to make to get the visa.

You need to state:

What your relationship is and for how long.

You need to state the intention of her visit.

You need to state you will support her financially.

You need to state you will pay any health fees during her stay (important).

You need to personally guarantee you will put her on a plane and send her home ( important).

And remember, after she gets her visa, she can still be refused entry at the border. So it's best if you can be at the airport to meet her.

And don't forget to check up on any transit visas she might need to get there. If you are flying direct from China to UK, no problem. If flying from HK double check she can get into HK ok with her flight tickets.

Going on an organized tour to get a visa is not really an option. The tour leader will keep all the tourists passports and she will not be allowed to leave the group. The tour operator would be in a lot of trouble if she went missing.

It's not as difficult as it sounds to get a visa. Just takes time and a bit of work.

Good luck Smile

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
