Q: Gift ideas for family back home.
Anyone have any gift ideas other than booze or cigarettes to bring back to family back in Canada. I'm kind of looking for something Chinese themed but also unique.
Little boxes made from Bamboo, it's light for weignt and you put stuff inside it to save space in the luggage.
Depends on who you're giving the gifts to really but off the top of my head...
Tea sets, ornamental fans, scroll type paintings, Mao's little red book if you're near Beijing, ornate chopstick sets, those good luck knotted red rope things (I forgot what they're called) you see hanging in living rooms etc, traditional type clothing all jump to mind.
A long time ago I brought my older sister back one of thoes nice, fancy carved wood hairbrush & comb sets. She looked at me,,,, 'You brought me a hairbrush!' 
,,, haha,,, Older sisters take no sh*t!
