Again, this is probably pure common sense, but are bikinis popular on the beaches of Southern China? I've made the decision to go and see my friend who's currently in Shenzhen.
I'm used to European standards, where you can tan on the beach topless, but I'm guessing that's not a wise idea for China, nor are strings...

Bikini's are popular in China although I have noticed a lot of Chinese girls wear a shirt-type attachment to their bikini bottoms. Still unless your bikini is see through you should pretty much fit in.
I would not advise tanning topless unless you want the eyes of everyone around you to stare.
I thought Chinese did not like tans. Don't they lighten their skin?Bikinis are nothing new. Get a cute low rise boy short kind.
If you want to keep men away, because they are so modest, try a very thin thong bottom and a shoe string type top with fishnet cups.
Where will you be going? Perhaps I can offer my services as a body guard during you stay.
I think you're going to hate your holiday... Just something tells me it's doomed right from the start...
Most women at beaches in China wear full diving suits underneath a full body hazmat style suit, which is then covered with SPF 23,000,000 12cm thick and sit under an umbrella.
This is not due to modesty, it's because all Chinese women are actually half-breed vampires and being in the sun would reveal their true nature.
