Q: Going to Harbin for visa extensions?

I recently heard rumours that you can now go to Harbin to get your visa extended. Is this true? Has anyone done it?

And you don't have to leave the country? It would be far more convenient for me to go there than HK.

Going there just for an extension? Extensions can be done in any city if you are approved. Only worth to do it in Harbin if you live there.

Sounds illegal. In China your visa is tied to the city where you live and work, and must be processed there and there only.

ironman510:

A lot of strange things are going on with my friends in Shenzhen, they go to Hong Kong to try to get new visa's of any kind just to come back and stay to do whatever, most are Americans and British, and they are being rejected these days, even after waiting 10 days and forking up 7000HK dollars, they still didn't get their visa's, the only method that seems to be working is mailing their passports  back to their home country and risky a no passport stay in Hong Kong, and on top of that making it more expensive fore those who don't have friends or apartments to stay at. It's cost our guys 10,000 to 15,000 just to renew a visa.

Is because they have too many visa's in their passport or what?, I lost a good mate due to this..
