HI
I'm moving to Guangzhou from UK beginning of March and the only thing I am worried about is my hair!!!
PLs someone recommend a good afro hairdressers who can relax and/or weave and any experience of these you can tell me would be great.
I really am in 2 minds on what to do with my hair before I go- whether I should leave my hair out hoping to find a hairdressers who can treat it, or weave it/ braid it up so that I can get it done again when I return for a short holiday back to the Uk in 3 months time.
Also can I buy black hair products out there. I've already bought about 3 months supply of absolutely everything i need just incase i find nought out there. But of course would be better to know I can purchase these out there so that I have more space in my suitcase!
I'll be working in Yuexiu district of Guangzhou.
Also how much is a bottle of shower gel and feminie hygiene products out there. Considering I can buy it here for £1 each, I've decided to stock up on these too
Thanks all.
Sunshine,
You can get Afro Hairdressers in Guangzhou in Tianshu area, and buy really good weaves here but abit costly but worth the price.
I would recommend you braid your hair or do a weave before you get a good hairdresser. (could recommend a friend who does my hair)
The shower gel and the hygiene products are available here and depending on the brand you get for less than £1 each.
Hope this helps..
HI Angie
Thanks for the reply!
So how much would a weave cost? Also relaxer and steam/ trim?
Will take your advice and get this done before I land and will definitely contact you when I land
Thanks again.
Hi Sunshine,
The best weaves are Peruvian or European weaves as they call then here and they are human. They sell in Kg's(Funny) but true and they would go for around 80usd for 3 pieces which would be good enough.
I have never had my hair relaxed here but if i have info on this ill let you know.
Talk soon.
I haven't been to Guangzhou but most major Chinese cities have a college or two that heavily recruits African students which, of course, leads to the surrounding businesses stocking up on black hair-care products and stylists. In Wuxi, its Jin Nan University.
However that college, assuming there is one, will probably be somewhere out in the countryside. They usually are.
I think you are wrong Mr. Mark i went to Shenzhen and i could not fond a stylist who has ever handled African hair leave alone to style it. My advice braid or weave just in case.
sunshine, my advice is simple, keep your person in the UK. I have many black friends but my god. Your hair, really
I did! Shaobei (sp?) area. Can't believe I only paid £8 for it too!
