Q: Good bread - where to buy?

Can you please let me know where to buy good bread in Beijing? Chaoyang district? I mean western bread, rye, dark bread... not that Chinese sweet milky thing...

Try April Gourmet stuff. I often get their baguettes (for 7/10 yuan), sometimes pita bread, though it's rather pricey (~30 yuan)

I don't know if every city in China gets the same bread, I like a heavy bread, in China I love a little loaf kinda like egg bread only sweeter that has almonds on it. Bakeries have some breads that are OK, have to try a few to find what you like.

Only one sure way for real one (looking at Your nick - I suppose Polish?) is to bake, but there are not too many hi temperature ovens here...

Ask some friend to send You bread-machine, or but one in HK if You plan to be there.
I used one few years ago, and it was OK.

In China You can buy yeast and flour, also with sugar and salt there is no problem Wink

Yeah, baking is an option. Though I am still looking for a place that can sell really good bread. I heard about the Russian stores at Dongzhimen, maybe will try there.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
