Q: Good place for employee's outing?

I may have been rough to one of the secretary at my job. Made her cry because she was slacking, and when i say slacking, i really mean she would have zero productivity. A client would enter and she would keep chit chatting instead of greeting him. She would answer the phone, put people on hold and finish that sudoku. In the end, I made her cry. It was like Niagara falls, 'merican side. When i left the office, she was still crying. And now I just heard she asked for a week out, to recover from the "trauma" she suffered. Really, I would fire her on the spot if i was HR, but then I think of her family and I don't want her kid to suffer from because of her being all incompetent.

So I thought I would bring my minions to some bonding session. I heard Chinese people love that, so it's exactly the thing to do.

The thing is, I have no clue where to bring them. I thought about a club, but thanks to answers.echinacities.com i learned Chinese people don't go clubbing. And it would be weird to watch a bunch of 50 year old women shaking that booty.

Where could I bring them? Ideally, it would be a place where we could be dancing. I would teach them the duck dance, hip hop style.

But I want it to be a surprise! Of course it will be mandatory, but they will receive full salary for the time of the event.

I believe the joy will be even greater as they will not expect it. Cheesus Christ I will have to force myself not to giggle during all the planning!

Giggle away Mr DuFion. Let your happiness wash over you like the bubonic plague in medieval England!

In other news, you should take them to karaoke, or 'KTV' as they say here.

There are some really nice places around, you can search for them on dianping.com, and most upscale places offer food and drinks too, so you can make a whole afternoon/night of it.

Actually, I've found Chinese people can't resist the offer of KTV! Even if they are dying of cancer, they will go to sing some songs! Zan! Plus 99% of KTV allow the 'pelvic thrust' of which you are partial to. Some places even allow table dancing, because the tables are stout, not like an Irish Land Whale (ILW), more like a hobbit with less hair. They can support a whole African family if need be! Zan!

Thank you for the wonderful idea, Ludovico!

The only problem is that many of my minions are quite shy ( i wouldn't dare and say stuck up), so maybe I could organize some shooters drinking contest? Do Chinese people like challenges? For example, a pelvic thrust contest, where only the one that goes the farther do not drink a shooter? Or a limbo contest on top of the tables where the losers have to gulp a shot of vodka?

Are Chinese eager to do those types of contests?

The idea was absolutely wonderful ludovico, and you sparked moar ideas into my mind! This will be a memorable event, it's just a shame facebook is blocked in China, or else there would be an avalanche of picture posting after that evening out!
