I'm getting sick of all the google stuff not working, should I use my yearly bonus to buy an iPhone 6 (after its released) or 5s?
I've never been into Apple but if the services can work in China then I'm willing to give up Samsungs forever in China.
What do you guys think, if you have an iPhone tell us if the services work in China please..
Any thing Google will be useless:
1.Google glass
2. Moto 360 Google watch.
3. Google phones or Tablets.
4. Googles website or search.
Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by "services"? App market? What do you need exactly?
ironman510:
Google search, Google voice, maps, google drive, google related anything.. I'm not going to use a VPN everytime I need to use a google feature. That's why I was asking if iPhone works better, like Siri, voice input, iCloud and other stuff like that.
ironman510:
Its ok thanks anyway, I've moved & utilized 80% of my laptop PC life to my Smart Phone.
Google maps works, but very slow. You can use s translator instead of google. Try hightail instead of gdrive.
Do not buy an iphone, you will regret it.
ironman510:
S translator has been going bipolar..At least Wechat and QQ has new translation features.

iphones are great...what's wrong with iphone?
if you don't want a big screen iphone or Xperia Z compact probably best ones out there.
but both those are pricy!
My Android phone has been on VPN more and more recently. Seems to make it happy. Even some of the podcasts I listen to have started failing to download automagically, so VPN is needed. I don't see how an iPhone would solve that. Of course some other services are available.
expatlife26:
yeah my phone is more or less permanently on VPN these days as well.
As long as you have a decent data plan...it's not really a hassle.
Mine is 3G only and still can handle youtube etc...no real reason to turn off VPN unless battery is low.
Scandinavian:
VPN on the phone would also apply to when it is on wifi. My dataplan cannot handle the podcasts I download, that has to be on wifi.
Google stuff works on all Nexus devices....even in China
ironman510:
My coworker has the new Nexus 5 bought in HK, the services don't work. IF they did I'd might buy a Nexus 5 rather then apple.
manasyt:
My wife has N4 and I have N10, bought on Taobao, they work on both ;)
So if you wanna buy the 4, I can give you the link for the shop...It's a great phone, pretty cheap now as well.
iPhone services should work better. You can try beforehand at the Apple store before you buy. Apple maps is inferior but at least it should work consistently. I'm not sure what translator service you would use differently with the iPhone. I never heard of iCloud. If it's not Chinese based, it's suspect. Anyways, why not just use a VPN?
expatlife26:
yeah really china with a good VPN is the best internet in the world.
You can download any copyrighted song/video...and also get access to normal sites.
In fact do they have China-based vpns so you can watch all the movies for free outside of china?
xinyuren:
I don't think you need a China IP VPN. For a test, try accessing Chinese movie websites with your VPN. It should work. but i disagree about Chinese internet + VPN being the best in the world. Chinese ISP's are slow, slow, slow! Now Hong Kong is another matter. The perfect internet is in HK, Korea, or Japan.
Apple services should work as Apple is kissing China's ass, but the iPhone and iOS sucks.
expatlife26:
oh come on...they're both great, functional systems.
Brand tribalism is pointless, it's like PS vs Xbox can't go wrong with either
Scandinavian:
PS vs. XBox is a pointless question. Super Mario Galaxy isn't for any !
