Sign up with Google Sign up with FacebookQ: Google maps on WeChat and Uber
I have just realised that the reason why I am not having any luck with Uber or WeChat location is because the apps are going through google. And isn't google blocked?
I am trying to get the phone to work with Baidu maps or any other type that works in China, but not having any luck.
Seached my problem online and was told to go into the app and remove default setting but that doesnt work.
I've been struggling with this problem for years and haven't yet found a solution, but it's nice to know I'm not the only one. I get around it by clicking on the map (it wont load, but that doesn't matter) then press the options button at the top right and open in map, then Baidu. It's not ideal, but it works.
Actually the solution is quite simple.
In your phone settings change the phone language to Chinese.
Wechat recognizes your phone language and based on that uses different maps applications.
I always switch my phone language to Chinese when I need to read "location", works well.
If you cannot read Chinese you may want to make some screenshots so you have no trouble to turn your phone back into English. when you finished with locations.
Where did you originally download wechat? It might be you have the international version.
I'm using it on an iPhone with all languages in English. The maps data is all in Chinese and works fine. Same as when I use Uber or Didi.

May be it has something to do with system - not sure. I use Android phone. Didi and other apps no trouble but Wechat location does not work. When switching to Chinese then already no trouble.
For me it goes to google first on wechat , but if i press the button how to get directions to that place, it automatically takes me to Baidu maps
