Q: Got any aggro in you? Where are you on the aggro scale...then, and now?

I'm definitely a sub mod.  Very little aggro in me, despite 20 years of playing full contact football and 5 years in the army.  Aggro was never really my bag.

But that was then... Now, five years in China and the aggro button has risen to not far below the surface.

As I'm sure you'll accept, Chinese people's behaviour/habits are (for mine) from another world.  Not all the time.

What is it that they do that pushes your buttons?  Your aggro buttons.

For me it has to be the way they drive.  Complete disregard for any social norms.  Laws?  What laws!

Total belligerence.  And talk about dangerous.  Their care factor is completely zero.  "I'm driving here....fuk you!"

The only surprise for me is that not more people are killed on the roads.

But I suspect they are.  The reported figure of 200,000 plus is surely one of fabrication.  And who cares?

Well, I'll tell you...I do!  And that's the reason I'm making a plan to go all Charles Bronson on these threats to normals.

The spitters wil be next.

Are you still travelling down serenity road?

There are 200,000 traffic fatalities per year in China?

royceH:

Yes, according to something I read recently.  I think it reported 230 odd.

I read it on the internet.

Full of agro at the moment. Wife and Mil in the house full time. My minimum time out the house is 9 hours per day at work. They sit on their arse. Tonight I have a few beers with some oz guys who go home tomorrow. I come home with a can of spam and noodles.  want to fry the spam and chuck it in.... but no.... MIL deciides tonight is the night to clean every pot in the kitchen... but decision was made post the hunters return.

But no problem... baby is my my lap and I am reading bedtime stories.

The two lazy women are snoring their heads off.... I can hear them.

I might just crack open that bottle of Victoria bitter I have in the fridge.

I can sup it while I do the  snow white book again laugh

To be honest.... its a good life wink

Bad luck matey.  The first thing to do is skoff the VB as fast as you can and make a mental note never to drink it again.  The next thing to do is to invite your MIL to fuk off.

Actually you might clue up your wife before you do no 2.

There should be no compromise.  It's you and your family's life...that is you, your wife and your child.  Tell the bat to go back to where she came from and expect a regular email with some photos attached.

Best of luck.

As an alternative to Chinese beer, VB is a winner, I'll grant you that.  But there are many other Australian beers that I'd rather be drinking.  VB is piss.  Suggest you give XXXX  a go.  Not the Gold.  And Melbourne Bitter is real good too.  Hard to find though.

I'll be in Aust in a few weeks and it won't be long on that first day before I'm tucking into a schooner of whatever takes my fancy at the nearest pub.

I try to stay calm and cool... but I have a TON of aggro in me. I was in the military too, took martial arts and go to the gym... so I KNOW I need to watch my temper and obviously not smack people around just because I can.

Rudeness, impatient dicks, stupid comments and bad driving... I can deal with this without too much anger. But what I absolutely CAN NOT stand and will not tolerate is when I see someone hurting someone/something weaker than them.

If I see a Chinese guy slapping around a woman, I will stop it... physically if necessary. If I see a Chinese person hitting or hurting an animal, I would shout at them, physically restrain them or knock some sense into them.

Bullies like this need to know there are people like me out there and the world isn't full of cowards. In my high school days, I would protect the geeks and nerds from the jocks. All they were, were cowards with big egos... I see a lot of men like that running around.

coineineagh:

my MIL gives my 2yo son a live fish in water as toy nearly every day. it drives me up the wall. he loves fishies, and holds them and squeezes them. he doesn't know what he's doing. but the MIL is desensitizing him towards animals. now we can't even enjoy a fish pond without him begging us to give him one. if he learns he can hurt fish, he'll hurt other animals. and eventually bully weaker people for his enjoyment. they don't seem to understand me when i say: "kill & eat it, or leave it alone. don't play with it."

Robk:

@coin - Yeah, one time. My wife took me to her hometown and her cousin has a small boy. He was very naughty but it wasn't really his fault. Mainly very bad parenting and they kept teasing him constantly to hit things.

I kept telling my wife this isn't good but I can't really teach Chinese anything, they don't listen. Well, there was kittens in the courtyard at my cousin's place this one time because the grandmother and grandfather (they all live together) were taking care of it.

The little boy, very interested with the animals (and didn't understand they were not toys) tried to stomp one of them. I quickly pushed him back gently (before he could do it again and seriously hurt or kill the kitten) and he tripped over something behind him. His mother grabbed him and looked very confused. I hollered at my wife to come so I could explain.

My wife got a little angry at me because she didn't see what he did. Chinese are like that... they only know if something happened when someone is screaming and crying. Later on, the boy apologized, while still scared (to me because they told him he made me angry) and I don't know really if he understood what he did.

Anyway, I hear he is better around animals. We adopted two kittens and that kitten turned out to be VERY afraid of people when it grew up. It took a while to get close to people and trust... well not people... mainly just me.

When it got larger, we had to give them away to a relative that lived in a rural area. She is pretty good with pets... better than 90% of Chinese.

Chinese don't understand talk very well, especially when it comes from a foreigner. You have to produce action... they might think you are crazy or something but they will know that you have it in you to freak out if they step over the line and respect you more. It will also make them think what they did to piss you off so much and perhaps reflect a little.

So the next time your MILF gives her a live fish, you grab it and put it back in the water. Tell them it hurts the fish and tell the MILF that you don't want her playing with animals while she is a child. If the MILF doesn't respect that, then act very cold and angry when she is around. She needs to know they are YOUR children and you are lying down the rules with YOUR children.

Chances are she will catch on quick, even if she doesn't you are moving to

Germany anyway... and you got a good reason for her NOT to visit.

I dunno. I think I have a serious anger problem. When people do stupid-as-hell things, I tend to yell, "What the f is wrong with you?" Unfortunately, I did that a lot in China... every day... that shit gave me PTSD.

My heart beat and blood pressure are very low. I was rejected once at the blood donation, because my blood pressure/heart beat was too low. They said, blood wouldn't come out of the vein.

I'll always react, when I see person causing violence to a weaker person or pets, but most of the other stupidities I just turn into laugh.

Once in Xin, I walked home at school's lunch break together with group of kids. My buddy, mentally challenged kid, we were walking in front of the pack of other kids with parents. Other kids stepped on my buddy's shoes from behind and played as he was walking. I turned around and faced kids with parents as they would be all adults. Angry face, big eyes and things. Whole group stopped, and let us walk ahead of them. Parents, too.

I actually enjoy in China to show the drivers I have right way as a pedestrian, and when it's possible I always cheat at the red light. It might be the way how I clear my aggro.

I lost it in the classroom on Monday.  Usually my sternest action is to send students out of the room.  This happens often.  I rarely yell.  (Not sure if you're aware, but many students are aresholes.)

So on Monday a boy in grade 7 asks me if he can get his something or rather out from my bag.  I ask him how did his whatever get into my bag.  He tells me the two boys sitting in front of him opened my bag and put it in there while I wasn't watching.  I know these two boys and they are both big nuisances in our class.

So I lost it.  I went kind of psycho and grabbed both their school bags and unzipped them and upended the contents on the floor and threw the bags down on top of the mess.  (It's incredible how much stuff they have in their bags.)

You see, I don't like people touching my stuff.  Opening another's mail, looking in wallets/purses, checking out someone else's phone....all the stuff like that.  I can't stand it.

I then went on a rant about how it's very wrong to touch other people's property and how we should respect each other and the next time anyone touches my bag I will surely kill them.

My actions caused quite a stir.

And what happened next?  I learned that they hadn't put anything into my bag at all.  They just told the boy that that is what they had done.  They "pranked" him.

Meanwhile the contents of two schoolbags were scattered all over the floor in the middle of the classroom.  I think several students were crying.

You could say it was a little awkward.

End of semester is only 3 weeks away.
