Q: Grossest behavior yet witnessed in public setting?

I just thought it would be fun to get other thoughts on this...

I suppose a good ol' fashioned public beating ranks right up there too. Hard to look at sometimes.
i would replace 3 with putting their face over your food to stare at it, before you have an opportunity to take it away.
Ya know, there is gross behavior and I am annoyed just as much as everyone here, but the thing that irks me the most is where the gross behavior occurs.
I was in a Lanzhon Lamian joint this afternoon for some tasty noodles. There was a young couple that got up to leave. The boy stood up and spit in the very middle of the walk. I just wanted to ask "wtf? you are leaving to go outside, and you decide right there at the urgency of your spitting demands you do it there" I didnt say that because THAT would be rude to do in public.
Another similar case was outside of a cafeteria style joint. Old lady opens the door and snot launches just a couple steps out. But I didnt want to say anything to her either....she still had one nostril of ammo left.
The most random thing was an old guy sitting next to me on a train. About 15 minutes into our 16hour ride, he gets out an electric razor and starts to shave. Not anywhere close to the most disgusting thing, but noteworthy in the line that not everything we do should be done in public.

Agree. It makes it even more disgusting to see this kind of behavior in a restaurant, supermarket, etc...
I once saw a mom with her baby, just take off the kids pants and piss everywhere inside of the packed metro. I couldnt beleive it. All over the ground, everyone packed shoulder to shoulder. What made me more furious was the I was the only one that seemed to care. I was looking around and i didnt see a hint of emotion from anyone. Confusion, embarressment, nothing. I'll never forget that.

Yesterday, I saw this disgusting young woman on the metro picking her nose with her little finger and then rubbing the filth from her nose on the underside of her seat. She was spreading her dirt around.
She was probably some uneducated, peasant woman from some God-forsaken Chinese village with dirty habits. She would be one of the more contemptible sort of women that China has to offer.
As a result of seeing this, I'm afraid that my opinion of Chinese women has fallen a bit.

That sounds seriously nasty... that said, I would regard 'uneducated' and 'contemptible' as different things, especially if you think she was a migrant worker.
Being ignorant and having bad manners doesn't make her a bad person, per se. Just means she has a very bad education, or none. I'd regard the slightly more affluent women who thinks she can only marry a man if he offers her STUFF as more contemptible, personally, although the nose picking is more objectively disgusting. But, each to their own, I guess.
