Q: GZ nightlife? any suggestions
I have been a visitor to GZ a few times, always during Canton Fair, and have had mixed success in finding decent nightlife and entertainment. One night we went across to the southside of the Pearl River to a street with a few bars and we drank all the Whiskey they had, once we went with a group of Arabic guys to a club called "Kama" or something similar but it was just a brothel more than a club. Have also been to a few pubs around the Garden Hotel area, but they were just like going to an old english pubs with a bunch of foreigners (if i wanted to do that, I'd stay home).
As Canadians, we are used to going to dance clubs that have actual people (guys and girls) partying in them and not just professionals. Does such a thing exist in GZ? Can anyone provide any sort of list of places that are decent to go to? Anyone want to go out on the town the weeks of the spring Canton Fair and have some fun?

Real night-clubs in China are almost always heavily staffed with hookers and drink girls. That is how they get the Chinese guys in the door.
Mixed in with the professionals are normal girls, but sometimes it is hard to tell the difference. Next time you are in Guangzhou around the Garden Hotel, try places like Mango Bar or Hill Bar. The "bars" tend to have a much higher normal-to-professional ratio.
Of course, the main thing is, can you speak Chinese? If not, then you probably won't have much luck in a true Chinese club.
Zhujiang Party Pier might be a good way to go. But it might be hard to get around during the Canton Fair because only way to get there is by taxi
thanks for the replies. I do not speak any chinese, but have managed well on charm and a smile so far, lol. I will check out that pier, i have heard it mentioned before.
like one person suggested most of the girls are hookers Chinese, Russians, Slovakians, Lithuians all who pose as professional models, they are there for the show, their clothing can't be bought anywhere the Chinese bosses use them to attract the male species chinese or otherwise, there is nothing you can't buy in China.

Actually I think you do not understand China nightlife well, the city where I am living called "Dong guan city " is the most famous nightlife in China, it is not far from Guang zhou, there are many customer visit Canton fair in daytime and book the hotel in Dong guan city and enjoy the nightlife here.

There's a fairly new bar in Guangzhou called Rebel, Rebel. They have a good selection of mixed drinks. Another popular club is Duo club.
