Q: Had anybody done Q1 visa recently?

I am preparing to go back to Europe and apply for Q1 visa, married for almost a month now. Walkthrough from somebody who did Q1 recently would be very helpful. I mainly got the visa application thing, documents I need, etc. Just I don't have experience with residence permit, health checkup is done after I return with done Q1 visa?

If you are in China, than why do you need to return home? Just walk into the PSB, Q1 or Q2 you'll be able to stay. IF no choice and you gotta go home first then all you need is an invite letter from your wife/husband inviting you to stay and the address of where she/he is and stating that you'll be staying at that address, 2x2 pictures, Hukou card copy, basic health check, you're marriage book if you got married in China, if not in China than a translated marriage cert version in Chinese must be prepare by a certified company with a red stamp than hand all that into your China Embassy and you'll get a Q1. Now most of the time they won't do his, but there's that 10% chance that they might ask you for a copy of your wifes/husbands bank records, because they might wanna see proof that she/he can support your stay during the visit because you are not allowed to work on a Q visa, so it doesn't matter how much money you have, it matters how much she has and that is usually Y60,000 that's been there for 6 months, again all cities do it differently and its up to the officer who handles your case at the embassy in Europe. So prepare a Chinese bank statement from your wifes/husbands bank and bring it with you, not a copy, just incase.

I was reading ZeroHedge's report on traveling to EU:

Europe: it’s practically a battlefield! At least if you believe the “Express”

Ohh, well ... they make a big deal out of the terrorists and what not as an excuse to impose more control over the 'sheeple'.

I travel anywhere. Last year, I wanted to hit Pakistan, but tourist visa was denied, because of some marginal thing.

Then, I was in Camden, and one Paki told me: 'Pakistan could be dangerous for you, because you have blue eyes.'

He said, I look 'devilish' to Pakis.

Hey there,

I actually just got my Q1 visa today. I supplied them with:

- marriage certificate (copy and original)

- expired passport (copy and original) linked to the marriage certificate

- new passport

- photo ID of my Chinese spouse (her Chinese ID and her passport)

- credit card payment papers

- invitation letter from spouse (you should be able to get this online)

- Visa application form

You have to mark the visa type as Q1, and one entry. When you get to China you can switch it to a Residential Permit within 30 days at the local PSB. I do not think you need to do a health check as that is generally just for the Foreign Experts Certificate.

I sent it to the Chinese Visa service via post so I also sent a sealed envelope (return envelope) for the embassy to send it back. Took about a week, very fast. I think because Canada has good relations with China right now.

Also because I have lived in China for a decade and own a place there so I am sure they were worried about financial support. But you may be asked to supply those records are mentioned above, so have them ready.

Anyway, that was my process.

Thanks for clarification, I think I am all set now, just to take photos.

How many years did the PSB give you? You've been here awhile now. I heard that some people once they renewed more then 3 times would get a 5 year marriage resident permit.

A:It's up to the employer if they want to hire you that's fine most cities today require you to take a health check every year when renewing the working visa if you pass the health check and you get your visa renewed each year I know teachers that are in their 70s and they're still doing great -- ironman510
