Q: Harley Davidsons for sale in China?

As you may have guessed from my username and avatar, I quite like bikes.

However I've not come across many foreign-made (except Japanese) bikes in China so far, and really miss a good Triumph or a Harley. I plan to get my license soon and wanna make a few roadtrips before I leave - though are there any Harley sellers anyway in China?

There is a guy that mainly sells second hand cars on the first floor of the office block in which I work. Recently, he's had a few Harleys and other bikes on his forecourt. He also came to my office about a week ago asking about the price of Harleys overseas and seems quite keen to sell them. If you are interested, PM me and I will try to get his contact details for you.

Not sure what kind of road trip that would amount to, seeing as how 2 wheeled vehicles are not allowed on the tolled expressways here.  So you'll be sharing the old crumbly crappy roads with all the other poor folks.  I do my riding in the US when I have time....don't think I'd ever ride one here.

Don't forget to apply for the motorcycle specific license.  It's a different test from the car license.  Good luck.  Try not to die and stuff.

First according to the map this website provides

http://www.harley-davidson.cn/dealer/dealernetwork.aspx

It has dealers in  Beijing, Tianjin, Tangshan,Dalian, Qingdao, Shanghai, Suzhou,Wuhan, Chongqing, Chengdu, Wenzhou.

Second, I want to add something to cooter's post above. I don't know about the driver license for motorcycles. But you should check what kind of roads the motorbikes are allowed to run in.  From what I heard, in many cities the downtown districts stopped issuing new plates for motorbikes years ago. It can be difficult, and very expensive to get a motor plate that allows you to drive it in downtown.

I almost bought a Yamaha Road Star, I like them better than Harley. The riding season is too short in Canada and this year is cold, it's 10* at night. Riding season is too short. I didn't even bother plating my bike this year.

I think driving a faster bike in China would be difficult, too many things happen too fast. I rode since I was a teenager. Just because a person can ride from A to B doesn't mean he can drive a bike. Maybe a V-Rod tho.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
