Q: Has anybody seen the new Chinese version of Idol? It's called Chinese Idol!

I just watched it this morning. What do you think of it? The contestants that made it through didn't seem to enthused. And where will they go for the finale? Plus they kept showing that girl judge drooling over all the cute guy contestants....

No why? Maybe if the girl judge gave glitter stickers it would be better.

What's the grand prize? Probably nothing.

99Silva:

Since it deals with music I would assume they would tour China and probably come out with a cd or something. Definitely some cash involved although I don't think it will be alot. Most of these game shows, reality shows, singing shows usually give about 10 thousand rmb at the most.

Good golly! 10k and a tour! Think of all the CD sales! Wait, this is China. They'll sell 100 CDs and the rest will be copies.

THIS MUST HAVE BEEN DONE IN CHINA BEFORE.

Seriously, there's no way this is "new" here. China loves singing and horrid live TV there's no way there hasn't been a China idol until now.

BTW, on that note, I'm sure the singers are quite good. I always noticed the Chinese are great singers. Must be the tonal language thing, gives them a good ear.

99Silva:

It's the first time I've ever seen it. I know they did a China's got talent and The Voice of China.

No why. Chinese songs have limited appeal outside China, except for novelty value. The show is a waste of time.

I see what you have done. You wrote a series of questions today about how Western brands have been banned in China, but the technology stolen and inferior copies sold by Chinese counterfeiters.

I think you have raised a good point. China is as jealous as hell of western success, to commit these obvious crimes.

T. wants to find out, who 'grant' him all down-votescool.

T. is convinced, all 'bad bananas' come from the same tree.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
