Q: has anyone aske thier chinese fiance to sign a prenup before marriage yes or no?

How often if at all, a Chinese fiancé has asked her foreign fiancé to sign a prenup before marriage or if her foreign fiancé asked his Chinese fiance this? If so what was her reaction or what was his reaction when either were asked this? I mean is it a good or bad thing to ask or do?

My friend was expected to buy a house when he got married, even though they weren't planning to live in China. The family said this was for her security because 'as everyone knows, foreign men can't be trusted'.

He bought up the idea of a prenup for his own protection and the family was very offended.. how dare he imply her family aren't honest etc etc...

Maybe other's experience could differ.

My fellow cowork did. His Chinese GF has money and businesses, he got targeted by her at the bar and she used the moves to get him into bed, she got what she wanted which was a baby without marriage, but he (From England.) really wanted to be the father of his kid and sacrificed face and all to be the father of his kid. So she prepared a China prenup agreement, he signed and agreed and than they got married. So yes it can be done, I hope not for reasons like his.

As for the good or bad thing:

For Chinese in China with their foreign spouse = Good. ( They would get everything anyway.)

For Foreigners married to Chinese in China= BAD, really really bad. Because if you divorce in China you will lose 99% of everything, the house, the car, the banks, and the children (If the children have a China Hukuo.)

I have a Chinese wife, so far so good the last 9 years, but China isn't the best place for a fair marriage if you know what I mean.

cub:

ironman then what about if they both live in the US i think a prenup is like a insuranc policy but better if the chinese wife wants to and does move with the husband lives in the US THEN she cant cash in so easily as long as the prenup is written and thought out good. For one thing, im NOT going to have kids with a chinese lady after i marry and she will know and agree with this before i marry her. i am sure not going to be sucked into a trap of her getting pregnant as a weapon or leverage over me.

@cub its a really hard one because we are all different people and have our own individual tastes and personalities . what works in one relationship might not be for another. life is a risk however i understand why you would want to limit your exposure. good luck anyway

@ Cub

Why would a pre-nup bother you? From your original posts on this site you don't have 2-cents to rub together!

cub:

@ hotwater, i like to plan ahead examine anything everything be prepared no surprises ok? ignorance and/or being ill prepared shouldnt be a option.Cant a person ask and search all senarios all possabilities that most likely she is wealthier than me? In my case yes. u never will get answers if u never ask advice or any questions. i feel better if im well equipped and well prepared. i am not giving up!

I'm not suggesting you give up or you don't consider all your options.

I I was sarcastically making fun of you, which went over your head.
