I do a once a year medical check up at No. 1 Guangxi People's Hospital.

It covers (at my request) a full blood test, urine and stool analysis, a chest X-Ray, prostrate exam and an electrocardiogram.  The cost is right under 1,000 Rmb, (900+), and since I do have my medical history and previous records of other examinations (and the doctor mumbles some English), we can detect trends and make corrections as needed.

I strongly recommend this to all, it is better to catch anything early, than to live in ignorance for a few more months until it will be too late to do anything.

THe HK hospital would be more expensive than other hospitals around China such as the Guangxi People's Hospital that was mentioned. If the Guanxi hospital was just under 1000 Rmb than you can expect the Hk hospital to be way above that. The have to figure out the cost of living in the city and determine things that way. They usually take the overall income level of the general population and will make the prices accordingly. The three most expensive places in China would be Beijing, Shanghai and HK. So yes it would be more expensive than the other cities and you can be looking at over 1000 RMB.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
