5 assailants, 39 knife wounds...any official announcement?
It happened in south Xinjiang as the man, a senior policeman, was on his way home from work.
Certainly it's been reported somehow, but has anyone heard any official report?

If you're not interested in hearing reports from Xinjinag, tell me and I'll make a decision not to inform you. Unless I do anyway.
But I'm curious to know if anyone cares. Certainly the govt cares not to inform the people.
- Three Chinese officials knifed to death in Xinjiang - report ...my.news.yahoo.com/three-chinese-officials-knifed... CachedRead 'Three Chinese officials knifed to death in Xinjiang ... Radio Free Asia quoted an official at a police ... Yahoo is not responsible or liable in any way ... I can't open it, so I'm not sure if it's the same stuff. Can't see the date of news either.

No, this only happened on Thursday.
This is the latest. Or perhaps not.
Hard to get any grip on what's really happening in Xinjiang.
I care and please continue with the updates. IMO the future of XJ is going to be a bit like the southern Phillipines and southern Thailand, read about the brutal insurgencies there and that's what this country is facing in the coming years. Hopefully Ch. authorities will be able to keep it contained, but some of the terrorist groups there have vowed to bring fire to the east coast and this will be difficult to stop.

Yes, I appreciate your point. I feel some sadness for the ethnic minorities out here who will despair, as I do, for their future.
I don't completely believe the party line but it is undoubtedly a complicated issue.
I got nothing. I searched xinjiang police stabbed and found an article on theguardian.com yet when it finally opened it was about a different stabbed officer in late march. I didnt know it was a regular occurance.

Seems it is Mike. In late '12 my brother in law told me a policeman friend (pissed) came to his house at 2am to tell him 23 ppl had been murdered in Ur He and that's never been reported to this day.
Agreed, I would not want my homeland to be ruled by these people, and can see why locals in XJ might harbor such extremists...it is definitely not entirely run by outsiders such as Uzbek or Afghan based groups, as the party line claims (didn't they say the 2009 riots were organized by a US based Uighur group?). But at the same time there is a worldwide resurgence in Islamic fanaticism and that is not pretty, to say the least. On another point, this could serve as a bridge between US Russia and Ch. as they are all facing similar terrorist threats..though I guess Ch. and Rus. have their own ideas about how to solve it.
Also not sure it is "so bad" for the ethnic minorities in XJ. The govts to the left of there such as (Kyrgyrstan) have corrupt oil dictatorships and do not look out for the common man. If XJ people had a successful country to point to and say "this is where we'd be if we hadn't been taken over by the Heavrnly Kingdom" I would also have more sympathy, but alas this is not the case.

You are correct but this is earth.
