Q: Has anyone here obtained CELTA diploma in China?

I know there are CELTA courses in Beijing and Shanghai and probably some other major cities, but don't remember right now. Has anyone been through the process and can you share your experience. I'd like to get it next summer but not sure if the institutions in China are that professional.

Thanks for sharing!

You can write to the CELTA organization to see if the people offering the course are certified or not.  I would be extremely careful with this since the last time a friend of mine looked, there were not CELTA certified providers in China.  The nearest was in Thailand.

But that was a few years ago so things may have changed since then.

I checked on the Cambridge website and it is only offered in Shanghai and Beijing. You can search by course, country or both. I presume you would find the latest information here. You could look at other countries if they are nearer for you. Vietnam have CELTA courses and maybe nearer for you.

Good luck with your future course.

Thanks!

As a matter of fact, I have checked the website and got in touch with them. I received all the details, but I'd like to hear from someone who did it. Just to be sure how is it and if they respect the standards.

That'd be me you're waiting to hear from...

I did the CELTA in SH last July (coming onto the anniversary   of it now... Laughing out loud)

Good course, professional experienced instructors... hectic pace!

The main instructor was flown in from Sydney, while his assistant worked in BJ with British Council. It's held in Shanghai University, Jiading campus, and is part of an SU/University of Technology,Sydney program... and UTS seems to have a VERY firm grip on what's going on... standards look pretty high there!

Somewhere towards the end of the course, an auditor came along and did an overview, summary, asked questions, made himself available to us, etc etc...

So, do they "respect the standards"??? Hell yes!

4 weeks was a bit rough, though... 5 would have been better. Even for those of us who had been teaching for a while (and used to academia, such as myself).

Any further questions, just ask Smile
