Q: Has anyone read any of Richard Burger's stuff?

First of all - awesome name.

Second - I keep brief tabs on his Peking Duck blog and know that he was once an editor at Global Times. He also wrote a book called "Behind the Red Door: Sex in China" which discusses the apparent "sexual revolution" China is currently undertaking. Is this book (or anything else by him) worth checking out?

The reason I ask is because I'm now looking for another solid, objective China writer (having read all of Peter Hessler's stuff). Thanks!

The Sinica Podcast had a podcast with Richard Burger talking about sex in China

It's certainly an interesting topic. From the sounds of the podcast I would not call it a revolution in the bra-burning sense.

I failed to find the book last time I was in a bookstore that sells China related books but not under the influence of the Ministry of Misinformation or whatever the censorship is under

I've just finished reading the book you mentioned - pretty interesting stuff though he talks more about sex in China throughout history rather than modern day habits. I just typed in the name of the book into Baidu and downloaded it. Was really surprised actually.
