My school is talking a lot of rubbish, I know, but, I want to check with you on here.
Has anyone yet been interviewed recently when they have entered?
I mean, questions about your visa; where did you get it, what are your intentions etc, and if you are working, where did you go to University? What course did you do, etc?
A colleague of mine, who is in the same boat as me, has been told by the school that this will happen.

No, hasn't happened yet. We will see. I need to make my traveling plans soon anyways so I'll find out sooner or later. No worries..

If you are here legally, no problem, if not, I hate to say this but if you have stayed longer than 30 days in this country on a L or F visa, you will be asked to simply go home, and yes, they say it just like that.
BHGAL:
not much doubt, if legal OK ... everbody's question is ... am I legal, how do I get legal ... no real answers just yet .... since July 1 ..... has it changed or not really???
instant_noodles:
30 days on an "F"? even if it s a 6-month, multiple entry"F"?
No problem pepo, if it is on a L, can guarantee it will be the last, BHGAL, it has changed, the process of extending a basic tourist visa for travel and business visa, Im sure there are agencies that can help but if everyone remembers the 2008, it does seem to be about the same.
I go to Hong Kong all the time, never been asked, I'm on a working resident permit, are you just asking F visa holder's*
I wouldn't worry too much. As long as your legal then you're grandfathered into the system. They wont check you.
YES, indeed. One time coming back from a Hong Kong visit [for the New Year] I was interrogated for many minutes until all the other people waiting behind me began to complain. I was asked where I received the visa and why I was coming back after having 'left' to go to Hong Kong. This one officer even questioned me about my USA passport whether it was a fake or not.
I was interviewed in my office last week by somebody from the immigration department of the PSB. It was in relation to renewal of my residence permit and the first time I have experienced such a thing in all the years I have been in China. Most of it was basic questions related to my purpose for being in China and my aspirations. The PSB withheld my RP until this interview was conducted. It may be a sign of things to come!
I was only ever interviewed on my very first trip to China (mainly checking where I was planning on going and who was my contact person). After that, it's just been the cursory checking of my passport and visa. Never any words spoken. My most recent border crossing was in early July. Same as usual...
