Not the most interesting question I know, but seeing as we're quite limited here regarding Western releases, is it worth seeing?

I thought it was ok, if it a bit long winded and drawn out (especially for a film purported to be part 1 of 2...). Didn't see it in the theaters...so no idea about any censoring. If you liked the Lord of Rings trilogy movies, then you'll probably like The Hobbit.
I love Tolkien stuff but i thought it was boring as hell. Nice to look at but that's about it. In other words it's like Transformers but with less explosions.
Realllllly boring. i went to see it with 3 female friends, after the first hour they were all more occupied with their smartphones than with watching the movie. For that matter.. so was I. Maybe part 2 will be better.
The first half is horrible, too many new content, and not good at all. At some point I was afraid that Jar Jar Binks might show up, because I was feeling as bad as when I watched the Phantom menace. Fortunately the last hour and a half of the movie is much better and they focus on the original script
It would be a great movie it they made a "shortened" version and remove all the boring content.
I thought it was okay but not as good as the original Lord of the Rings trilogy. What pissed me off most about this movie is that it ends abruptly after about 3 hours so it's clear they're making at least another 2 installments. I just don't think it's right to milk the story so much.
I went yesterday...and I'm going back tomorrow to see it again. I loved it. But I have to say that it's only for LOTR fans, the rest of the people might get bored. So, if you aren't a huge fan you shouldn't go.
For me, is the best movie I've seen in years .
PD:I don't think that it's fair to compare this movie to the LOTR as it isn't fair to compare the books. LOTR is epic and huge, this is just an adventure book. Probably the best one, but it's totally different
NOt yet, but yes it's gonna be worth seeing compared to the other movies in the theater.
If you like the other movies in the series then you will like it I think.
I watched it, and liked it just as much as any other Lord of the Rings movie. Nothing really special, but it was due time for me to take a trip to middle earth.
I saw it on the midnight premiere in the US. I thought it was amazing, but I'm a huge fan of Middle Earth shit and I went in with realistic expectations. I thought PJ and co. told the story quite captivatingly. Howard Shore's music was as brilliant as always. The Hobbit is a children's book, so of course the movie is a bit childish at times. But it was very well done, from a cinematic standpoint it was definitely better than The Fellowship (which almost everyone hated...). It basically felt like a complete movie by itself, just with a cliff-hanger ending, whereas The Fellowship definitely felt incomplete. I'm looking forward to the next two films, which should be a lot more "epic", so those of you with short attention spans will get your explosions.

Although I thought the film was a bit dull, I'll go back for the others. Mainly just because I want to see the dragon eat one of those dwarves. Btw, I never read the book, some people do get eaten right? I hate all those dwarves.. umm not to say that I hate 'little people,' just that I hate those LOTR dwarves.. ahem

Let's put it this way...it's probably going to be a lot more epic than anyone who hasn't read the book is expecting!
I'm not a pucking hobbit! Vertically challenged mmkay?!
My wife has feet like one.

Dude, ya doing alright as long as you're not in dwarf territory. Or orcs for that matter...
how can such a short book be stretched over 3 movies ????
happywanderer:
Because the makers of the film are goblins! Money-grasping, filthy goblins! Who care nothing about quality but just want to steal money and make more goblins, and money. ARRRGGGGHGHHHGG
