Q: Has Echinacities finally lost the plot?

I received a personal message this afternoon, regarding obtaining a driver's license in China. I clicked on "report Abuse" only to find that...well, nothing. This site is so full of trolls and spam. Is this the design of the site owners or do they need help from members?

Admin, what the f**k?

It would be a good time for the Admin to come up with a policy statement and/or solution to the current crap.

Take it easy.

We know the site is kind of a mess, the answers section could be better focused and monitored, but it doesn't really matter. In the end of the day, you get to know quickly the core of 20 or so users worth reading. To me the rest couldn't matter less. Just don't answer if you don't like.

members do a better job of warning each other for the more believable scams. i've even learned a few terms, like "statistical blackmail". admin does more of a 'meta' cleanup of accounts or comments after the fact. i doubt admin is online every day, either. maintaining the Answers section is clearly a task among many for a worker, not a labour of love that's done with passion and interest.

Have some pity for the operators of this site. The government has been trying to overrun them for years. They are having trouble keeping admins. I'm willing to bet the CCP finds ways to target them individually. The CCP is simply being relentless, we as users of this website should be more responsible and ignore the trolls.

RiriRiri:

I don't think officials really care about this site. And if they did, they wouldn't need to "try for years", they'd shut it down and would have already forgotten about it by noon's nap, they have all the excuses they'd need for that.

Truth is, we're well confined and unimportant here. No one cares, not even administrators.

A few years ago the admin banned a bunch of trolls. Then for about a week hackers attacked the site.

I agree with the comments. There is so much trolling happening every week that it must be tiresome to continually clean up the mess. As RiriRiri says, we know who the core contributers are and that's what matters, these other guys that come and get aggressive for short periods of time can eff off.. I think it's partly the job of admin and partly the job of users who want to continue to use this site...

Dragging CCP into every matter could be enough for banning this site but as Brother1818 said its not a big deal to shut it down for them. Some are obvious trolls, some obvious anti-CCP and majority in the middle with helping hands to everyone. If there is only one admin, he could be knocking his/her head with the walls due to the crap.

This site has become like a society where you can find variety of people.

We've went through 1000 different admins.

Our new admin doesn't do much, it seems.

Is there an admin now? Or is someone just covering.

A quick fix would be to not allow anon posting, and maybe questions should be approved until a user has reached a certain amount of upvotes.

How will the question be voted if its not visible? Or you meant there should be a committee to review the question first?

But that's censorship Scan.

If I could write in Chinese I would love to go onto Chinese websites in the UK and ask the posters questions about their time in the UK.

Personally, I think many of the strange questions are posted by teens. Possibly all huddled around an Ipad that their western stepdad bought them, pissed out of their skulls on Bacardi Breezers.

It's not as if they can have a good wholesome hobby such as plane spotting. They could get 35 years inside for that wink.

I don't see what the issue is.

If you censored a site in the west there would be a chance that " Anonymous" would set it as a target. If the CPC wanted this site closed it would be closed with no debate.

And why does everyone want a mod to be in control?  Is that not rather like running to the teacher because little Johnny said something bad about your mum?

We are supposed to be well traveled smart arse people, happy to answer questions wink.

Right, I'm off to put on my " Red Adair" fireproof suit on devil.

John Wayne, right?

I was somehow reminded of the Red Adair film a few days ago,  Can't remember why.

I was thinking of the real Red Adair Royce.

But now you mention it.. yup, Marion played him in a movie.

My official policy now is  to only refer by a certain film star by his real name. Marion.

We started off with the adminkitty, then a dog, then the pig. Now... a sloth? There is much less modding than previously, and the site suffers.
