Q: Has living in China inspired you to travel more, or simply to get out?

Since I've come here all the way from the States I've got the travel bug, and with countries like Japan and South Korea on my doorstep I can't wait to get some holiday and do some exploring. Is this typical of being an expat or do you think it's just that "get me out of China" feeling?

On another note - when you get holiday how often do you actually spend it in China? Do you prefer to escape it all and go abroad?

How long have you been here roughly?  I'd say all expats start with the travel bug - that's how we get here.  The question is what happens to you next.  If a year from now you feel the same then good, you've remained true to yourself, if on the other hand you want to start a business of your own and see everything in terms of money then you're ahead of the curve in becoming localized.

Being inspired to travel more lead me to China. Now I want to take advantage of the location and go to exotic places like Mongolia and Xinjiang and maybe some of the 'stans west of China. Russia sounds interesting but I hear the visa is difficult to get lately.

Japan and Korea are nice, I've been to both, not in a hurry to go back as they seem quite similar to China. When I have a vacation, I want something different.
