Q: Has mail you've been expecting from abroad ever not arrived in China?

I've been waiting on an important letter for over a week and it still hasn't arrived. Apparently it was sent with courier from the UK. Should I be worried? Can courier services take longer than a week?

YES !!!!! the courier service should provide you with a tracking number so you can check where it is. But having said that, it took a DHL package 8 weeks to arrive with me. It also depends on where you are i China: if you are in a Tier 1 or Tier 3 city, or somewhere remote. It also depends on the postal workers who handle it. unfortunatley some have sticky fingers. I would only start worrying really after about 3 weeks.

Yep! I have had eight, yes EIGHT packages 'go missing'.

Even a DHL package I had to go to the Beijing depot and collect as they refused to send it to my city!

If it is not registered, it is not getting there.

I wouldn't say that, I just had a hat sent and it only took a month and a half to reach me. Good condition too. Made in China, bought in the south of England, brought back to China, worn back to and forgotten in the north of England, sent back to China; it's been back and forth more times than me.

No letters lost, I think we've lost a package, must have gotten eaten in customs. But things take a lot of time.

All the time. Three packages my mum sent me with new jeans. :( She won't send anything anymore.

The trouble with Royal mail tracking is it is only tracked as far as Beijing. It get's lost between BJ and my city. My mum got compensated by Royal Mail, but I still never got my jeans. cool

Also a book I sent to my friend from China to England never arrived. It never arrived in England, so it's happening in China.

The delivery standard for an airmail item should be 10 days, to China 3 months if you are lucky. Chinese postal workers have to be slowest in the world. I use Expresspost or Priority mail, but thats expensive.

Things mailed by regular mail zuo huo bu zuo show up. I order things on Ebay from China and the last 2 items I bought, the seller cancelled the sale because he won't ship in China. Thats says something.

Moonlake:

OMG that's not what I wanted to hear. I tracked the letter's progress and it arrived in China last week but it hasn't been delivered to me yet. I'm freaking out!

Twice I sent packages to China from the States.  Both times I gave up and thought they were lost.  However, after three months, both times, they arrived.  Just got to have faith!!

Moonlake:

Oh no, I can't wait 3 months! This just sucks. I hate the postal service here. By the way, it's been over 3 weeks and my letter still hasn't arrived.
