Q: Have any of you eaten donkey?

I'm watching Andrew Zimmern, a bizarre food eater/travel show host, and he's in Beijing for this episode. There is a restaurant that specializes in donkey... it's kind of.. interesting if you can get over the fact that it's donkey.

Yeah I've eaten it in Shanghai. It wasn't too impressive, about the same as horse. I did enjoy it more the camel though.

I ate it once in Beijing. I can't deny that it tasted good but I wouldn't eat it again just because I feel sorry for the poor donkeys. They have such a miserable life and did you know they can suffer from depression and even commit suicide? Read this article about donkeys killing themselves in Sudan. I'm sure they're not much happier in China.

What an interesting article, Lolitta... thanks. I don't know that I could eat it, for the same reason I couldn't eat dog, cat or horse. And yet, I have no problem with beef, lamb, chicken, fish, goat, ostrich(YUM!), alligator, frog, etc... I can't explain why I can knowingly eat some species and not others. I'm a pretty adventurous foodie.. we'll see.

I've also had it. It wasn't bad, but it's nothing I get cravings for or would go searching around for.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
