Q: Have you ever been disturbed or woken up by fireworks?

It maybe fun but it frightens other people (me) especially young children, elders, and animals. Some pets are used to them, they do watch anyway.

During the Lunar New Year celebrations, my neighborhood sounds like a war zone as if I caught myself in the middle of the crisis in Syria.  I was once awaken at midnight by this  BOOM BOOM, got confused, my head hit the wall as I was looking for an exit to escape. I thought it was a tragedy. I had to compose myself to come back to normal.

I have developed a firecracker phobia considering if it unfortunately lands on/in my pants. I consider them very dangerous " weapons".

Chinese kids don't give a crap about this firecrackers. They set them off as though it was a peace of cake

You obviously live in the wrong country if you have a firecracker phobia. I have been woken up many times at night, early in the morning...  It's part of the culture here... You either learn to deal with it or move to another country!!

fireworks are let off at ANY time of the day or night for many different reasons: celebrating births, weddings, opening of a new business etc. Get used to it.

China is the originator of fireworks anyway !

If you can't stand 24/7 wall to wall noise, pack your bags and get out of here because it never, ever gets any better.

It sort of takes me back to my childhood days in rural Australia, when everybody let off fireworks for the Queen's Birthday.

These days it is restricted who can use fireworks. Thankfully, the Chinese are FAR more responsible with them... ... Shift+R improves the quality of this image. Shift+A improves the quality of all images on this page.

Chinese New Year in Urumqi was something of an adventure... there was always a chance that those bangs that sounded like gunshots would turn out to be .... er... gunshots.

This is Chinese wake up call. Chinese are not morning people. Some keep roosters for alarm clocks in their apartment.

That's actually true Ted. Damned if I knew why until now. Thanks
