Q: have you ever been to a place, and thought this is my china?
i'm quickly falling in love with my new city. beautiful girls beautiful weather, students in the canteen waiting in line! yes, you read right. the masses of students that go in for lunch, lining up .
great cheap food, you eat decently for 10-15rmb a day.
this is the china i've been searching for, did i mention cheap beer, and the food does not look like it is spat up by the last customer.
and cheap good beer.
For me, that place was Qingdao. Beautiful weather, nice beaches, German beer, great food. Which city are you in Crim?

Qingdao for me too. Actual TREES and yards in parts of the city. Only place I felt like I was home.
Hopefully I will get the job I have applied for in Qingdao, then we shall see.
Ruili in Yunnan Province during the Winter. Qingdao is a great place to be on warm summer and autumn evenings.

Yes I went during National day break in October. The weather was still nice.
I had no idea that I would enjoy this place as much as I do ... my dream was to come and get my wife .... and go home to Canada ...... not no more ... this place, where I am, is pretty much perfect .... great family, great location .............. f*ck I was looking at a delivery joint for food the other day (Shanghai)..... expected 2 or 3 times... it was 10X what I pay here.... think I pay quite a bit more for food than 10-15RMB ... but hey, I like prawns and fish
hot and humid down here ... but I like it... 2700RMB/month for a 150m2 new apt. ...
I hope I feel about Taiwan that way. I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah, 3 places feel like "my" China. Never been to Qingdao, but I always hear good things about it.
I loved Guilin as soon as I got there, always meant to see, Nanning and Luizhou, will next time, maybe, thats what I thought last time.
Any views on Macau? Never been there personally but I suspect a cuisine that is both Portuguese AND Chinese would work for me. Oh yeah, gambling, women, and living on an island paradise might do it too.
