Q: Have you ever been shocked by anything in China before?
Was there anything that happened that you thought ok this seems normal then all of a sudden you get blindsided by something shocking? I saw a lady walking her dog and the dog took a number two on the streets. I saw the lady take out a plastic bag and I thought oh wow this is a first! Next thing you know she's wiping the dogs Arse with the plastic bag instead of picking the poop up off the ground!
Totally blown away!
People here only care about themselves, why would that be shocking to you? Funny, perhaps, or a moment to shake your head, but shocking? No. Shocking is...shocking is...well I can't really think of anything because not much shocks me anymore. All the things that shock us when we first come to China have no effect after a few months. Sometimes things are sad, horrifying, amazing....but "shocking" really isn't in my list of reactions as of late.
Yes, and now I'm over it.
For good or for worse, nothing that I see, hear, or experience in China shocks me anymore...which, when you think about it, is shocking in and of itself!
I pick up after my dog at home, not sure I'd want to pick after a Chinese dog, I watch where I step so I can leave it for some Chinese guy to step in.
