Q: Have you ever bought fake stuff from Taobao?
For a while I thought that taobao was fairly safe in terms of counterfeit products and scams but recently many friends have been telling me of purchases they made which ended up being fakes. Have you bought stuff from Taobao which ended up being fake?
generally if u choose the shop carefully.. its ok... have bought a lot of stuff in taobao.. only twice got cheated.. both clothes.. 1. Lewis underwear... washed and tag is white.... can it be lewis? we returned the washed one and got the money back. 2. One ONLY skirt... found the tag says VERO MODA in one place and ONLY on another...!! .. but since quality seems ok and price was low.. we accepted it..

Vero Moda and Only is produced at the same factory and owned by the same company, so you probably got your hands on some 2. sorting (clothes with minor errors on it)
Of course,i do that quite often,usually the books,they are much cheaper.

As for the other things,you could buy them from the shops which ensure the goods are genuine and will return you the money if they are fake.
i bought my ex-girlfriend an iPhone 4s from TaoBao ...........i was expecting to get a real iPhone for the 4100 RMB i paid....she was the one pushing me to buy that iPhone from that site.........i regret that

usually the fake ones are much cheaper.In addition,you can ask for an invoice ,they wouldn't mind to give you that if the goods are real.

also ask for a pack which is not opened... so u can open and regieter with apple... if fake u will know.. dont pay!
I know Taobao mainly for selling fake things..so never tried to buy anything

You know, guys....I have bought a few baseball and hockey jerseys on Tao Bao. I have to admit, they are of comparable quality to the same product that I would pay 5 to 10 times more for back in Canada.
My girlfriend sells only fake things on Taobao and makes a lot of money doing so. All of the people she sells to doesn't even realize they're fake, even after owning the product for some time. The product themselves are actually very high quality, pretty much the best that you can buy. The goods are even better than all of the goods I see sold in the USA that are imported from China. I guess a better term for it would be "unauthentic". There are plenty of people on Taobao who sell "unauthentic" goods, but they're such high quality that nobody cares. Sure it might be a little dishonest, but at the end of the day, people are getting their money's worth. It's only a problem when the goods are of inferior quality... I think the majority of goods that are sold on Taobao that receive good ratings from people who purchased them are good quality goods.
Check the ratings of the seller and the product, if they're both very good then don't worry too much whether they're "fake" or not.. As far as expensive electronics, you're better off buying them from amazon.cn or tmall.com. I wouldn't give a lot of money to any seller on taobao under any circumstances.
I tried to buy a girl from Taobao once. But when they shipped her they forgot to put air holes in her box. The smell alone made it worth paying for the return postage.
I bought some items on taobao such as a pair of lady shoes and a Dell streak 7 iPad both of them where fake ones, I managed to call the Boss of the company to give me an original Dell since i spent a lot for it so he accepted and i returned the fake one to him and he gave me the original one. i did not return the shoes because I bought it cheap and i did not want to spend more money returning the product to the shop. so most of these people just want to take advantage of you when u buy from taobao since you cannot have direct contact with them, but yet u can chat with them asking for the quality of the product and sometimes you can bargain with them. it's better you ask a Chinese friend to help you choose the correct product since there many shops selling one product at different prices. mostly when you look for the product typing it in English,they know you are a foreigner so the prices are extremely exaggerative.
