Countless times, and each year is very exciting to watch.  But make sure your apartment windows and doors, specially if you have a balcony, are fully closed.  Many fires are started by fireworks getting inside apartment each year.  And may need ear noise protectors too.
It also may be wise for you to find and read some customs and traditions during those festivity days.  It may avoid some blunders.....

if you dont have a chinese girlfriend to take you to her home. or any chiese family to spend it with. it sucks big time. firecrakers 24/7. all the shops are closed. nothin to do but sit at home and try to watch a movie. i say try because you cant hear any of it because of the loud bangs outside.

but if you have some chinese familys house to go to, them maybe it will be fun.

Yep. Very exciting time. Each year I take video footage and then edit them togeather and send them back to the folks "back home." They are amazed at the local pyrotechnic displays. My favorite day has to be "Lantern Festival," because there is a large park across from where we live that is absolutely packed with people and decorated to the "T." I love to walk around that evening and see everyone having a great time!
