Q: Have you ever had health issues from ice cubes in China?

Had a drink with ice in it from a very dodgy-looking bar. The ice bucket looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years and who knows whether the ice was actually made from drinking water.

My advice is not to trust any ice that you personally have not made... The Chinese don't appreciate 'cold' drinks and by extension will probably not appreciate ice cubes too.

I always ask to not have ice in China. Especially for my coffee. As teggsnose writes, people use ice so infrequently that the flow of ice in a typical ice cube maker is low, and cleaning is probably never going to happen.

Have not had any laduzi incidents I could link to ice cubes.

The only place that I go to that usually serves drinks with ice are fast food restaurants such as mcdonalds, bk or kfc. The other restaurants usually just give me the drink with no ice unless I ask for it

No never. If you get ice from legal bars/restaurants then the ice is usually bought in large sacks and made from drinking water.

A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
