One of my Chinese friends mentioned that she would like to adopt an American child as her own, and asked me to how to go about doing so. I had nothing to say, as I have never heard of such a thing. Are there instances of Chinese families adopting foreign children, particularly those born in the West? Do you know anyone who has done this, or considered doing it?

To my knowledge, it is not possible. I have been told that China does not allow people to adopt foreign children. One of the main blockers is that unless you are born in China, to a Chinese native, it is almost impossible to get Chinese citizenship.
I've never heard of this before. This is the first time it's come up. I think people here are more interested in going to the states not raising a kid from the states. Plus I would assume international adoptions are more expensive than local one's!
No, they cannot adopt a Western Born Baby, for the most part is the unlimited amount of orphaned Chinese Children and the fact that a foreign born baby could be exploited. I have heard friends talking about being approached and basically just being asked to get the woman pregnant, and they were willing to pay.
