I do this all the time and my wife says that one day it will backfire.
Is she right? Am I wrong?
Do you do this?
Decided to put this Q into the 'Culture' category but it could easily have gone into 'Learning & Education'.
However, the overriding problem is, it seems to me, their fkd up "farqueue!" culture.
Not punched anyone yet but I did take the keys out of the ignition of a taxi one day who was trying to cheat me.
Got a taxi back to work one day from lunch. A very short journey, & asked how much as he wouldn't put the meter on. I'm sure he said 5 kuai though when we got to the factory gate he asked for 50! It's a 5 minute drive!
I refused & offered him 10, meter would have been 7. He started to turn around to drive off so I turned the engine off & took the keys. By this time the company security guys took notice of what was going on. I let myself out, threw 10 kuai & his keys at him & walked away into the factory. He actually had the nerve to follow me & threw the 10 back at me. At which point the security guys finally did their job & threw him off the premises.
Hotwater:
If I hadn't taken the keys he'd have driven me back to where we started! I wasn't having that :-)
royceH:
Hahaha...that's a beauty. I bet he castigated himself after he'd cooled down and realised he'd thrown away the tenner.
Yes, always........
OT: See vid from emergency room in Hamilton below......

Watch automatic doors....
after 1' walk: 'OK, everything looks dandy. I got to go elsewhere for another check-up......loads of hospitals in Ozz.....'
royceH:
Stressed out because her home amongst the trees is gone. Or going. Koalas are endangered and there isn't any urgency to do anything about it.

Animal isn't sure, where to exit, till automatic door opens. Hilarious!
I'll prob. wander to Xinjiang before new semester (Aug.). Kashi, Korla and visit to Gilgit, Pak. I'm still waiting for reply from Pak.'s Embassy, if I can get tourist visa on arrival. I plan to cross Karakoram by bus.

I am thinking about doing that very often.... sadly civility prevents me from following through.
royceH:
Ahhh, bullshit, Scan. You've earned the right...been here long enough. Go ahead, it's great for the blood pressure.
I did once, but the dude died cause I work out.
I stole his taxi and dumped it in the river... whistling whimsically while I strutted along.
royceH:
Cool as! You got some video of that? It could be used as an instructional tape.
It will happen only ONCE where being confident you will get your arse hell beaten and probably end up in lock up. Perhaps its never a good idea to get into a brawl in China/anywhere justbecause you think you can be/are strong enough.
stopped a reckless e-bike rider one evening on a sidewalk in Bao'an and took his keys. I lectured him on safety a bit, seen that he was minding his manners, so I handed him his keys back and let him go on his way.
royceH:
He had fear, not common sense. And I'll wager London to a brick that the idiot is still out there terrorizing the populace.
diverdude1:
yeah, I seriously doubt he changed his behavior. they aren't satisfied until they hurt someone. seem to be incapable of foreseeing what may result from reckless behavior.
