Q: Have you ever lost it and resorted to punching a Chinese?
Violence is supposed to be so taboo in China, but once I was provoked beyond words of a verbal dispute, and when this taxi driver kept sticking his finger in my face and insisted I pay he him 100 yuan because he forgot to turn the meter on! The ride was from Shandi to Renmin East gate. All attempts to reason with this guy failed and when he saw me dialing the police he poked his finger into my cheek and I just snapped and gave him a good punch and left 40 yuan on the seat and walked away. I usually contain my anger and frustration in China, but that day I just snapped.
Yeah, us violent foreigners attacking peaceful Chinese.
Poking a finger into someone's cheek is not aggressive and violent provocation?
Assault is assault no matter what country you are in. If you done that in the UK you would at least make the local news. There would probably be CCTV photos with the article too.

The Beijing taxi thing... It was my first 10 minutes outside the airport in China ! No punches, just loud talk and angry faces.

I recall there was some guy went missing in Shanghai recently.
Do you have any links as to how many people disappear?
For example, this unfortunate guy went missing recently in Malaysia. His disappearance made it all the way to Prime Minister level.

Come to think of it.... remember that young British guy who was allegedly beaten up in BJ for trying to rape a girl a few years ago. There was never anything in the UK news about that. No interviews with worried parents.... nowt.

When I first read the question I wonder what sort of Chinese thing you had punched. Was it a Chinese painting? A Chinese wall? A Chinese fan?
You might not think they are but Chinese people are just that....people. So you question would have been better put as "Have you ever lost it and resorted to punching a Chinese person?"
no...how long have you been in china? rude and unacceptable behavior, such as no respect for personal space, in western culture isnt considered as rude/unacceptable in china. theres more casual physical contact in asian culture, and also personal space doesnt exist in china. but he shouldnt have poked you. but you shouldnt have punched him regardless...if you have pent up anger, maybe try punching pillows.

Sorry, I disagree. When they put their hands on me they have crossed the line. You can cuss me all you want, but if you touch me in anger, anger is what you will receive.
Good on you for slugging him. He deserved more than that, though.

Yes, I punched a guy who was trying to pickpocket me in a (almost empty) subway in Chengdu, his nose was bleeding and he threatened to call the police, I told him to try and I will ask the subway's company to give me the recordings of the CCTVs and we will see who's condemned, me for punching him or him for putting his hand in my pocket.
He left the wagon at the next stop, never heard of him again after that.
At most pushing people away when I try to exit the subway and I'm met with a wall of people immediately rushing in, fuck you, let people get off first.

Iv had a few mates who have had moments where they've just lost it.. Never has happened to me though, a few close calls though.
I hate it when cars nearly hit you and don't stop, happened to me yesterday and let it rip to the driver or a new lexus, old man didn't know what he had coming.

I also hate cars hit me, before i used to kick the card until i chinese man got off the car and almost hit me. Just be careful!
In 2010 I was labelled a "Japanese dog" twice. Once in Shanghai in a Burger King in Lujiazui's super brand mall and another time in Beijing. I'm not Japanese.
Both instances led to intense arguments, both were old men and I thought I would be a wise ass and wind them both up by agreeing that I was indeed a "Japanese dog". It never elevated into something physical though, I just laughed, stared at them and watched them lose their sh*t

Group of us were about half-drunk and we went to go into some bar/club,,, something like that. Well, about five of the group just walked in, but for some reason the guys at the door tried to get my buddy to pay to go in. He was upset and they began a shouting match, well, I never cared much for that stuff, so I got the bouncer/doorguys attention, then I whacked him in the face. I was nice about it,, it was more of a cuff, than a punch, and I didn't sucker-punch him,,, granted, I shoulda let him get his guard up better,,
Course I didn't wanna get in a real fight,,, I was just kinda fkn around,, 
,, so, three of 'em jumped me and gave me a few smacks,, nothing really noticeable,,, hustled me into the elevator and while we were descending to the exit floor, two of 'em held me (I wasn't resisting, just couldn't be bothered really) one of 'em practiced his kung-fu on me. Again, not that impressive,, even though a couple of decent shots to my kidneys...
so, we got down to the exit level and the three of them hustled me outta there out to the entrance of the building. well, there was this big flight of concrete stairs awaiting me and I thought for sure they were gonna toss my ass down them stairs.. I kept thinking to myself 'this is gonna hurt'. But, lo and behold when we reached those stairs, they unhanded me and let me just walk away. I was very impressed by that. decent behavior on their part. most places I've been in the world I would've gotten a bigger beating, And thrown down those concrete stairs!
Was getting on the bus yesterday, as always its like Mecca trying to get on. Chinese guy whos getting on in front of me suddenly decides to back out of the bus giving me a proper tackle on the way. I snapped, turned around and punched him hard in the back. He turned around with a red face and hyperventilating like he was going to explode. He didn't though, just walked off. I probably shouldn't do that again though, you never know who you might piss off. But man it felt guuud!
I've never hit anyone, although I have been sorely tempted. I've become comfortable flipping people the bird, something I have never done in my home country.
And, no, this isn't a 'losing your manners in China' type of deal. I would totally flip people in my country the bird, IF they did the things Chinese people do (the last display of tallman-worthy behavior was someone driving his car at breakneck speed to within an inch of me at a crossway, while the pedestrian light was green, and then honking angrily at me as if I was the one out of line). That behavior doesn't happen where I come from, because my country is civilized and people don't just think about themselves all the time.

Last year i had a fight with two chinese guys. Maybe part of it was my fault but sometimes is difficult to contain your anger. It was midnight, just went back home from the bar, i was a little hungry so i went to the 24 hours supermarket to buy some cookies. After leaving the supermarket i cross a guy asking if i go somewhere, he can take me, i dont answer and when i lm about to croos the road i hear he says laoway goutong bu liao, i got really angry so i went back and i told him what do you think know? . He started to kick me and punch me.anyways
I hit a guy last week who tried to jump into a taxi my wife and I had hailed. While getting into the taxi the guy came from across the street and tried to jump in front of my pregnant wife, opening the taxi door and hitting her with door in the stomach (twice). I lost it and punched the guy square in the face. Cops got called and I was hauled off to the police station. Turns out the guy is mafia connected and now I am getting extorted for 50,000 RMB to pay for his medical bills (cracked cheek bone and broken nose). Tip... a solid push not a punch should suffice in most situations.
