In the grocery store? If not could it even work here? I think people would abuse it to no end but I am so sick of waiting 30 minutes to buy beer and eggs behind people with full carts in the same line.
Of course people would abuse it. I would know, I worked in a grocery store for 6 years. People back home already abuse it, I don't even want to imagine how bad it could be here. I mean, can the cashiers even say no to the customers, and would they listen? Probably not. A lot of people think "express" means that the lane is somehow special, and would be faster than a regular lane. But it's only faster if everyone has a small amount of items. Otherwise it takes just as long, if not longer, because the counter is smaller and people are slow to pick up their stuff.
Sorry dude, you're just going to have to wait. Try to go when it's the least busy, if that's possible. Anything that requires patience and organization of the masses is probably going to fail, and that's not necessarily just in China.
If i have a few items at hone, I go through a regular lane, its always faster.
