Q: Have you ever used the "Di Di Da Che" app to get a taxi?

Got a cab last night and the driver had a phone loaded with what I found out was an app called "DiDi taxi". I'm still not sure how it works really, but it looks like on the passengers end, you talk into the phone (like wechat) to say where you are and where you want to go and the drivers hear the message and will pick you up. The driver told me that it was free to use. Anyone use this yet? It sounds pretty cool. I have no idea where it's available to use either other than Beijing

Yeah we use it all the time. Haven't got picked up yet but yes they reply you a message to let you know they will pick you up. I was in a cab and one taxi driver was using just that.

I've seen it in three separate cabs now, although I haven't yet heard anything about how long it takes to get picked up. I've also been told both that the service is free and that it isn't. Apparently something about bidding for cabs to come get you?

I have used it for about a month, really a good app, especially during rush time , if you would like to pay extr 5 -10 yuan , you can have your cab sooner.

if not rush time, no need to pay more, just as normal price .

but the point is , you should describe where are you and where are you going in a very clear and polite way.

It's an awesome app as long as you can speak or write Chinese. I use it all the time especially when I need to book that early morning taxi to the airport or train station. For short distance rides I would always add 5-10  kuai for expedited service.
