Q: Have You Ever Used The Partitionless Public Toilets?

Got a shock of my life last week. Walked into a public toilet for a pee and there was a line of guys squating over holes on the floor ... in full view. I turned around instantly. Never again will I go into public toilets.

One thing though, there are a lot of public toilets in Beijing. Sometimes you get 2-3 within a short 500m block. I would rather they build quality over quantity.

Traveling through the moutains filming a tv drama for cctv; so the little public toilet had a line of people that "knew" me and all wanted to have a conversation at the same time.  It's rough having a line of people not only watching you go, but wanting to talk to you at the same time.

WHEN YOU GOOTA GO, YOU GOTTA GO !

I normally seek privacy, and I do carry toilet paper with me since once had to use my handkershief instead.  But a privacy curtain, that's a little bulky to carry, plus a gas mask and a few other goodies, like spray air deodorant.

For number 1 take a deep breadth and go out quickly,  but for number two, eoither submit or throw the underwear away latter.

Ho, ho , ho, Merry Xmas to all !

Those toilets have been around for a long time...just be careful you don't drop anything inside or accidently step inside of it. I know some of the toilets don't even flush properly and many of them overflow. With every one partitionless public toilets you will find you can find three american standard toilets just around the corner so just keep looking next time. smiley

I have seen some absolutely horrid public toilets in some of the smaller villages that even the locals wouldn't go into.

In 6 years I can count on one hand how many times I have gone to the Squatter toilet, therefore... the partitionless squatter just ain't gonna happen. Can't stomach it at all,....not a freakin chance.

I would rather piss or crap on the sidewalk...less trauma, and from what I have seen, quite widley accepted as the norm.

I don't think I could ever do the partitionless bathroom thing. I've gone in an outhouse, and there was a horrible bathroom in Jinhua that didn't even have separate toilets. It was just a little trough with some slowly running water that went under every stall. I need my privacy, and unless it was an absolute emergency...well even then, I'd try to find a way out of it.
