Q: Have you heard of any horror stories related to beauty treatments in China?
Got my eyebrows shaped the other day and was a bit too aware of the razor blade she was using to shave away unwanted hair. One slip of the wrist and I could be one-eyed now. But my experience was harmless compared to other horror stories that surely exist here. Have any of u heard of any beauty procedures going horribly wrong? People getting horrific allergies to facials etc.?
I went with a local friend and her mother to a local beauty salon. They were having their backs scraped and suggested i try. after, when i had recovered from the pain, i asked her how this was considered a 'beauty' treatment.
There is a girl in Shanghai...15 years old...her perceived beauty IS the problem! She hooks up with European guys from hostels and Burger Kings then wonders why she gets tossed like...like a used BK burger wrapper. To add some sort of validity to this post, I did design a presentation for a plastic surgeon once...he was doing a lecture on just what could go wrong with various lasers. Not at all pleasant.

I went for a massage and the lady tried to massage my breasts. I will never have a massage in China again.
I did a marketing photo shoot gig once here, they wanted to put make up on me, so I went ahead with it. They ended up putting on too much mascara, and the wrong shade too, and it made me look like a Barbie doll. It wasn't really a horror story, actually it is strange how I did not stand out walking around the city as a man dressed up in way too much make-up and foundation and what not. WTF is with people who think it's normal to wear male makeup?? Very very bizarre. But I figured "when in Rome" so I got paid to wear too ugly make-up and pose in advertisements.

True story an actor wanted to get some plastic surgery done. This guy was getting filmed in commercials some movie roles, tv. drama's etc., His friend had done some plastic surgery and his workload doubled. So this actor was curious so he wanted to fix something around his eyes...when he woke up and the removed that covering over his eyes the once 20 something yr old actor had looked over 60. His career was over he couldn't find any work. True story!
I went for a haircut once.
The result? Well, just take a look at my avatar! That is me, drinking beer with a straw....
Sparkey went in for a haircut and had an accident after she tooted and pooted and startled the attendant. She looks like a victim from a Texas chainsaw movie now.
